Getting to the Hotel

From the Albuquerque International Sunport

Travellers arriving at the Sunport are recommended to use taxi cabs or shared ride services such as Lyft or Uber if they are not renting a car or getting a ride from a local or another member renting a car.  We will have directions for taking ABQ Ride, the local bus service, available at a later point.

If you rent a car, upon leaving the rental car center, proceed north on University to Sunport Blvd.  Take Sunport Blvd. to I-25 North and proceed following the driving directions below for coming from I-25.

From the Alvarado Transportation Center (Amtrak, Interstate Bus)

The Alvarado Transportation Center is a multifunction facility that serves Amtrak, Interstate Busses, The New Mexico Railrunner Express, and local city busses.  It stretches several blocks between the railroad tracks and First Street from Central Avenue south to Lead Avenue.  Amtrak and the interstate busses both arrive towards the south end (at least according to Google Maps).  The Hyatt Regency Hotel Albuquerque is located 4 to 5 blocks from the northwest corner.  Downtown Albuquerque is fairly level in this area and this can be an easy walk.  If you do not want to walk, taxi or shared ride services can take you the short distance.  See the note below about taxis in Albuquerque.

At the Alvrado Transportation Center, the railroad tracks will be on the east side, and First Street will be on the west side.  Proceed either through the station or along First Street to the intersection of First and Central.  Then head west on Central for one or two blocks to 2nd or 3rd Streets.  Then head north on either of these streets two blocks to Tijeras.  Continue west on Tijeras.  You can enter the Hyatt either through the Albuquerque Plaza enterance behind the sculptures of people at the corner of 3rd and Tijeras, or midway down the block.

By Car

If arriving in Albuquerque from the north or south on I-25, exit at Dr. Martin Luther King Ave.  Turn west onto Dr. Martin Luther King Ave.  When the road goes over the train tracks and splits, be sure to stay right and NOT take the ramp into the Convention Center parking garage on your left, but remain on Marquette Blvd.  Continue west on Marquette to either 3rd or 5th Streets for self parking.  Turn left on either 3rd or 5th Streets and continue south to Copper.  From 3rd street, turn right onto Copper, from 5th turn left onto Copper.  The Hyatt parking garage is located midway between 3rd and 4th street on the north side of Copper.  If you would prefer to use paid valet parking, take 5th Street from Marquette and turn left on Tijeras, which is one-way.  The valet drop off is at the hotel's main entrence on Tijeras.

If arriving in Albuqerque from the east on I-40, exit at 6th street.  Proceed south on 6th street to Copper, and turn left.  The Hyatt parking garage is located midway between 3rd and 4th street on the north side of Copper.  If you would prefer to use paid valet parking, turn left on Tijeras, which is one-way.  The valet drop off is at the hotel's main entrence on Tijeras.

If arriving in Albuquerque from the west on I-40, exit on 4th street.  Continue on the Frontage Road to 3rd street and turn left.  Proceed south on 3rd street to Copper and turn right.  The Hyatt parking garage is located midway between 3rd and 4th street on the north side of Copper.  If you would prefer to use paid valet parking, make a right turn at Marquette, and continue to 5th Street.  Then make a left on 5th Street for one block to Tijeras.  Turn left on Tijeras which is one-way.  The valet drop off is at the hotel's main enterence on Tijeras.

A Note About Taxis in Albuquerque

Unlike many, or most cities, Albuquerque taxis do not, or may not even legally be able to, pick up pasengers by hailing except at the Albuqerque International Sunport.  So if you wish to use a traditional taxi from the hotel or other places, you will need to talk to the concierge or call the taxi company.
